Joint Programs in Survey Methodology, Online

Knowledge of data science and survey methodology is increasingly important in today’s data-driven world. As public and private organizations increasingly produce and use data to inform decision-making, there is a growing need for professionals with specialized technical skills and a broad understanding of social data science concepts and tools. Grounded in scientific principles, effective data collection can lead to better results in public opinion research, social science, public policy, and overall decision-making.

The Joint Programs in Survey Methodology, Online prepare professionals to broaden their knowledge and understanding of survey and data science, survey methodology, and survey statistics. Offered through the Joint Program in Survey Methodology in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences, the programs are offered entirely online. Designed for working professionals, the programs allow students to earn a University of Maryland degree while continuing to work full-time, with minimal disruption to their personal and professional lives. Both full-time and part-time study are welcome.

Programs include a Master of Professional Studies and certificates. Students who successfully complete the requirements for a certificate may apply those credits toward the master’s degree if they apply to and are admitted to the program.
