Program Overview
The Master of Professional Studies (MPS) in Persian integrates advanced language study with the exploration of Persian culture, history, literature, politics, and society. Students develop not only the ability to communicate fluently at a professional level but also the cultural literacy necessary to engage meaningfully across diverse global contexts.
The MPS in Persian is offered through the School of Languages, Literatures, & Culture in the College of Arts and Humanities. The program allows advanced-level students of Persian to dedicate a year to immersive language study and reach professional proficiency in spoken and written Persian for academic, professional, and cross-cultural communication purposes. Students with specific academic questions should contact a member of the MPS in Persian team at persian@umd.edu.
