Graduate Programs Overview
The School of Public Policy offers professional programs that develop innovative leaders in the art of policy and governance, advance the frontiers of applied interdisciplinary knowledge, and promote local, national, and global public good. These offerings provide advanced education and training to students who work in Maryland and regional municipalities, state and federal governments, international agencies and organizations, and governments around the world. The curricula are designed to develop the skills and techniques professionals use to implement policies, projects, and programs that address important societal problems.
The programs offer flexible learning options, including in-person and 100% online formats, to accommodate working professionals. Students can earn a University of Maryland degree or certificate while maintaining full-time employment and minimizing disruptions to their personal and professional lives. Students who successfully complete a graduate certificate may apply the credits toward a School of Public Policy master’s program, provided they apply and are admitted. Both full-time and part-time study options are available.
