The Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism (START) Graduate Programs provides students with advanced education on the causes, dynamics, and impacts of terrorism, as well as broader issues related to human security in a complex world. Full-time and part-time study options are available.

Housed in the College of Behavioral and Social Sciences at the University of Maryland, the START programs are part of the National Consortium for the Study of Terrorism and Responses to Terrorism. START is a research and education center comprised of an international network of scholars committed to the scientific study of the causes and human consequences of terrorism in the United States and around the world. Through its work, START educates, mentors, and trains the next generation of national security scholars and practitioners.
