The Post-Baccalaureate Program in Fire Protection Engineering offers advanced coursework focused on fire protection systems design and quantitative methods for performance-based design.

• Courses are taught by University of Maryland (UMD) faculty and professionals in the field.
• Features online learning using advanced audio and video technology, UMD’s online learning environment delivers dynamic and interactive content.
• The program follows the semester academic calendar with classes held in the spring and fall semesters (16 weeks each).

Upon successful completion of the Post-Baccalaureate Program in Fire Protection Engineering, students will have developed the core competencies needed to advance in Fire Protection Engineering.

• Identify, formulate, and solve complex engineering problems by applying principles of engineering, science, and mathematics.
• Apply engineering design to produce solutions that meet specific needs with consideration of public health, safety, and welfare, as well as global, cultural, social, environmental, and economic factors.
• Recognize ethical and professional responsibilities in engineering situations and make informed judgements, which consider the impact of engineering solutions in global, economic, environmental, and societal contexts
• Develop and conduct appropriate experimentation, analyze and interpret data, and use engineering judgement to draw conclusions.
