Yes. Admission into the Post-Baccalaureate Program in Latin and Greek requires a four-year baccalaureate degree from an accredited institution with a minimum 2.0 GPA. If your bachelor’s degree has not been conferred but you are graduating, a representative of your advising college can provide a statement, on university letterhead, that attests to the semester you are likely to graduate. By the end of your first semester, you must provide an official transcript that includes confirmation of your bachelor’s degree conferral.

Yes. You must submit all official transcripts by the end of your first semester in the program to register for the following semester. Unofficial transcripts are sufficient when submitting your application to the program.

No. Latin and Greek is a non-degree granting program. You can take all the courses offered in the program or only the courses you need to achieve your personal and academic goals. 

No. The courses offered in the Latin and Greek program use the same curriculum as the courses available to degree-seeking students.

A prerequisite is a course that you must complete before you are allowed to enroll in a more advanced course. 

Yes. Prerequisite courses provide the foundational knowledge or skills necessary to succeed in the next course. 

No. The prerequisites courses listed in the course catalog are the UMD courses that meet the prerequisite requirement. Comparable courses taken at other institutions may be acceptable at the discretion of the program director.

Yes. Admitted students are required to pay the undergraduate student mandatory fees, which grant access to the UMD libraries, shuttle system, recreation facilities, and other campus services. 

No. The Post-Baccalaureate Program in Latin and Greek is a non-degree seeking program and is not eligible for federal financial aid. However, all admitted students pay the in-state undergraduate rate for program courses regardless of their Maryland residency status. 

Yes. Students who do not intend to register for courses in the fall or spring semesters must submit a Petition for Waiver of Continuous Registration for each semester of non-attendance. The petition must be submitted by the last day of schedule adjustment for the semester of non-attendance. For more information, see Academic & Financial Deadlines.

  • Program-admitted students who register for course(s) / section(s) outside of Latin and Greek are charged tuition at the per-credit rate based on their residency.
