Program Overview

ONLINE IN PERSON

The EdTerps Learning Academy’s Special Education and School Counseling Programs support the professional learning needs of general education teachers in inclusive classrooms, school and community professionals in special education support services, and professional school counselors. Through flexible and part-time learning options that feature in-person, online, and blended instruction, our Special Education and School Counseling Programs support learners to build and use evidence-based practices to expand their skills and knowledge.

Special Education and School Counseling Programs are designed to advance the knowledge and careers or working professionals in better serving the needs of students. The programs culminate in graduate degrees from the University of Maryland’s College of Education, including Ed.D., M.Ed., and Graduate Certificates.

Ed.D. in Special Education Leadership, Shady Grove

  • Develops special education leadership for a select cohort of scholars, including special education teachers, related service professionals, principals, and special education administrators. Learn more

Ed.D. in Special Education Leadership, Germany

  • Prepares leaders for special education services in the Department of Defense Dependent School System, in Germany. In-person classes are held near Ramstein Air Force Base, Germany. Learn more

M.Ed. in Special Education, Specialty: Autism, Online

  • Designed for professionals interested in increasing their skills and expanding their knowledge to better serve the increasing number of students with ASD and those students with related developmental disabilities. Learn more.

  • Designed to address the developmental and learning needs of our youngest ages birth-5 including those with physical, sensory (e.g., deaf-blindness, cortical visual impairment, etc.), and multiple disabilities. Learn more.

Graduate Certificate in Special Education for General Education Teachers in Inclusive Classrooms, Online
