Program Overview


The EdTerps Learning Academy’s Education Leadership Programs prepare current and aspiring principals, assistant principals, instructional supervisors, and district leaders to be innovative and problem-solving leaders who are dedicated to building the capacity of school and district teams to impact change for all learners. Through flexible and part-time learning options that feature in-person, online, and blended instruction, these dynamic programs prepare education leaders in school improvement principles, equity centered leadership, and practical problem solving. 

Education Leadership Programs culminate in graduate degrees from the University of Maryland’s College of Education, including Ed.D. and Graduate Certificates, as well as eligibility for certain Maryland State Department of Education (MSDE) certifications (MSDE Superintendent II Certification and MSDE Admin I Certification). 

Ed.D. in School System Leadership 

  • Develops leaders who can design and lead collaborative and inclusive system improvement initiatives. MHEC has approved this program for MSDE Superintendent II Certification. Learn more

Ed.D. in School System Leadership, Specialty: Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages and Dual Language Education (TESOL)

  • Brings together the fields of TESOL and School System Leadership to help school and district leaders and administrators better meet the needs of the multilingual learners and their teachers. Learn more.

Post-Baccalaureate Certificate in School Improvement Leadership, Online 

  • Supports teacher leaders who aspire to become school leaders in meeting the requirements for MSDE Admin I Certification. Learn more.
